South Dakota's gateway to the Black Hills hosts its annual honey and artisan expo each August, drawing beekeepers from across the Northern Plains to celebrate the region's exceptional sweet clover, alfalfa, and wildflower honey traditions. The Black Hills' unique microclimate supports diverse floral sources that produce some of the most distinctive honey in the Great Plains. The event includes a honey quality competition, guided apiary tours at nearby ranches, a native plant pollinator garden showcase, and evening campfire honey tastings.
