Type: Honey Market
Saint Cloud — the Granite City at the heart of Stearns County, where the Mississippi River bends through Central Minnesota's glacially carved lakes-and-prairie transition — hosts this end-of-summer honey market celebrating the region's exceptional basswood, sweet clover, and buckwheat honey harvests. Stearns County is one of Minnesota's most productive honey-producing counties, combining the rich basswood forests of the Sauk River drainage with the agricultural diversity of the German-Catholic farm belt — buckwheat fields, red clover hay, and wildflower corridors along the Mississippi produce a distinctly complex Central Minnesota honey profile. The market features a juried honey show with basswood, clover, buckwheat, and wildflower categories, demonstrations by University of Minnesota Extension beekeepers, Central Minnesota honey mead and craft beverage pairings, farm-to-table honey cuisine prepared by local chefs using varietals from participating apiaries, and guided pollinator habitat walks along the Mississippi riverbank.
