The Lanier family has produced tupelo honey in Wewahitchka, Florida, since 1898, placing hives on raised platforms along the Apalachicola River swamps during the April–May tupelo bloom. L.L. Lanier & Son's says its honey is never heated, is strained through cheesecloth rather than machine-filtered, and is light gold with a greenish cast that fades after a few weeks. The family describes the flavour as floral, delicate and smooth, with no aftertaste. It is sold online in 8 oz, 1 lb and 2 lb bottles, a 22 oz glass honeypot and a 5 lb jug.
