Oca Nera is a small Corsican honey house in Vignale, Haute-Corse, run by beekeepers Caroline and Rémi, who sell AOP Miel de Corse – Mele di Corsica honey from their own shop. Their chestnut honey comes from mid-mountain chestnut groves and their undergrowth, where the bees forage from the end of June; the producer lists chestnut, bramble, clematis, broom and nepita as the main nectars. They describe it as amber, strong and tannic, long on the palate with a slight bitterness. It is harvested from mid-July and sold in 250 g, 400 g and 1 kg jars.
