Abellaires Empordanesos is a beekeepers' cooperative in Garriguella, in the Empordà area of Girona, Catalonia. It lists this small-harvest acacia honey, made from robinia (false acacia) nectar collected in late spring in woods and fields where robinia dominates, under its Catalan monofloral range and labels it as from the Iberian Peninsula. The cooperative says the honey is cold-extracted without heating or aggressive filtering, and that every lot is laboratory tested. It describes a very pale colour, a liquid texture that crystallises very slowly, a light floral aroma with hints of vanilla, and a sweet, delicate taste. Glass jars of 250 g, 500 g and 1 kg are offered.
