Privacy Policy

Raw Honey Guide is run by the same independent team described on our About page. This page explains what we store when you sign up for our newsletter, how our analytics works, and how to have your information removed.

Newsletter Sign-Up

When you sign up for the Raw Honey Guide newsletter, we store your email address, sign-up time, the form you used, the page pathname (without query strings or fragments), and the consent version alongside your subscription. If you unsubscribe, we keep a suppression record so another form submission does not restart your emails.

If you choose state events, we also store the state you choose and the time and version of that preference. We use it for that state’s events section in The Honey Month. We do not infer your state from your IP address, geolocation or distance. Leaving the state option untouched preserves an existing choice. Changing it to unchecked and submitting the same email address clears that choice without unsubscribing you or sending another welcome email.

We use your email address to send the Raw Honey Guide welcome email with your cheat sheet, and occasional Raw Honey Guide updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Opening that link shows a confirmation page; email apps may also offer their own one-click unsubscribe button.

To have your address removed completely, email hello@rawhoneyguide.com and we will remove it.

We never sell or share your email address with anyone.

Contact Messages

Your name, email address, subject, and message are emailed to our team through Amazon SES and retained in our inbox so we can handle your request. Using the contact form does not subscribe you to the newsletter. For questions about your message or to request its removal, email hello@rawhoneyguide.com.

Events You Submit

We keep your event link, optional details, email address and submission status so we can verify the event, contact you, and provide a private manage link. Your email stays private and submitting an event does not subscribe you to the newsletter. We keep submission records while they are needed to handle the event and future corrections; you can request their deletion.

Uploaded photos and schedule files stay private during review and are deleted 30 days after publication or rejection. Only reviewed event details and photos used with permission are published. We use Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent automated abuse. It processes browser signals and your IP address as described in the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum. We keep a salted hash of your IP address for abuse limits. Expired manage tokens and daily abuse counters are removed.

Event reminders are a separate choice for one event. We keep your private email address, confirmation and stop-token hashes, consent and delivery evidence until the event’s reviewed end time, or the end of its final local date when no end time is listed. Expired reminder records are removed by a daily deletion job. Opening a reminder link changes nothing until you confirm the action. A reminder request needs its own email confirmation and does not subscribe you to the newsletter or organizer statistics. The reminder stop link applies only to that occurrence.

Organizers can separately choose statistics emails. We keep the chosen private email address, consent evidence, captured aggregate reports and delivery records to provide those reports and honor their statistics preference. Reports count event page views and link clicks; they do not identify visitors or prove attendance. Opening a statistics preference link changes nothing until you confirm that you want to stop; that stops statistics for your address across organizers and does not change newsletter subscriptions, event updates or reminders. These purpose-specific links are valid for one year. We keep statistics records while needed to handle reports, prevent duplicate sends and honor preferences; you can request their deletion at hello@rawhoneyguide.com.

To update or delete your submission or remove a published photo, reply to your confirmation email or contact hello@rawhoneyguide.com. We handle deletion requests within 2 business days.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure page views and interactions on this site, including which newsletter sign-up form was used and on which page. Google Analytics does not receive your name, and we do not link analytics data to your email address in our subscriber records.

Our web server also keeps standard access logs (IP address, page requested, time) for security and troubleshooting.

Email Delivery

Amazon Simple Email Service processes your address on our behalf to deliver our emails. We store sending attempts and provider acceptance records; acceptance does not confirm delivery. Unsubscribe pages do not load analytics, and unsubscribe tokens are excluded from access logs.

Cookies & Local Storage

Google Analytics sets its own cookies to measure site usage. Separately, your browser's local storage keeps two small flags: rhg_subscribed, set after you sign up so we stop showing you sign-up prompts, and rhg_popup_dismissed, set if you close a sign-up prompt without subscribing. Neither leaves your browser or identifies you to us.

Advertising Partners and Cookies

Mediavine manages the advertising on this website. Mediavine and its partners use cookies and similar technologies as described in Mediavine’s disclosure below. Our newsletter email addresses are not shared with advertising partners.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.

First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.

Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.

Interest-Based Advertising Choices

You can control cookies in your browser and review advertising choices through the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI), the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA), and Google Ads Settings. These choices apply to participating services and may need to be set separately on each browser or device. Opting out of personalized advertising does not necessarily remove ads.

California residents can contact hello@rawhoneyguide.com with a “Do Not Sell or Share” request, or to ask about access, correction, or deletion under the CCPA/CPRA. Mediavine and its partners use data such as cookie identifiers, IP address and device information for cross-context behavioral advertising, which California law can treat as selling or sharing personal information. To opt out, use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link that Mediavine shows to US visitors at the bottom of each page, or email us at the address above.

The consent management platform (CMP) supplied by Mediavine asks visitors in the EEA and UK for advertising consent. It lets you accept, reject, or adjust that consent and revisit your choices through a preference link. Advertising cookies that require consent wait for your choice. The CMP does not manage our analytics or newsletter consent.
